Stayton, Oregon

About 14 miles away from Salem on Highway 22, Stayton became a town in 1872 and then became incorporated in 1891 (Reference).

Camp Taloali

In 1973, the Koch family wanted their land to be donated and used as a nonprofit camp for Deaf and Hard of Hearing children to promote their skills in leadership and nature (Reference). That became Camp Taloali. To fulfill the family's ultimate goal, a summer camp program was established on it every summer for Deaf and hard of hearing children aged 6-15. Campers can continue to be involved with Camp Taloali by becoming Counselors In Training to be hired as future counselors.
